Hello and welcome to the 2010 version on Mystery Pics! Your challenge is to look closely at the picture below, try and identify it and post a comment with your guess. The lucky winner receives a $10 voucher to a local electronics store! Here are some clues to help with your guess…
- The picture was taken last term during our Inventions DKU topic.
- It helps to make something that many parents need to ‘get up and go’ in the morning.
- All cafes have one.
- It uses up lots of electricity when in use.
- This is the inside of it, normally hidden from view!

Hello everyone and welcome back to Term 2. In the next few weeks there will be lots of photos added to the blog from the fun run and our activities back at school. This week we are looking at…
Rhyming words are our reading focus this week, as it helps us read and helps us speak! Setting reading goals and writing them down, helps to keep away our frown.
Recounts about our holidays will be a focus in our writing sessions as well as each student producing a written piece in a set time limit.
Numeracy has a counting focus, specifically counting money amounts. A vital skill and one that can never be done too much!
DKU changes focus each term and this term our topic is…AMAZING INVENTIONS! Should be great fun with many activities planned to bring out the inner scientist in us all! Our You Can Do It! theme for the term is ORGANISATION (something I am going to go and practice now!)
SEE YOU AT SCHOOL

Week 7 at Bellaire
This week at Bellaire is a 4 day week due to the Labour Day weekend. It will be an exciting start to the week as all junior classes head off on our first excursion for the year! We are studying ‘Our Environment’ in DKU this term and each class will be walking to either the local kinder, vet, sports centre or nursery. Let’s hope that the weather holds off!
In reading this week we will be focussing on punctuation. The Thrass focus will be ‘air’ as in hair, ‘are’ as in square, ‘e’ as in bed and ‘ea’ as bread. For writing this week we will be introducing the stimulus box which includes pictures, photos, stamps, stickers, objects, colourful paper, cards and little booklets to help stimulate ideas for the students as they write. The maths focus for this week is place value and the students will be interpreting numbers in many different ways.
Keep an eye on our BLOG for upcoming videos, pictures and competitions. Don’t forget that it is the JUNIOR EXPO NIGHT on Thursday night from 7pm – 8pm in the junior classrooms in the main building. This event is a great chance to see the sort of things that your child learns about at school and ask any questions that you may have. We hope to see you there!
